Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is the 49th and current vice-president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her outspoken questions of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
