Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. As of February 2020, she had signed 53 deals with the show, the largest being a $350,000 investment in 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied on the free food delivery from a local grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk occasionally and was rude to her mother. Corcoran was struggling in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several classes during her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
